Again teaming with Glenn Phillips and GTP Motorsports, the squad hopes to improve on their sixth place Championship effort in 2011.

Minor will be in a Citation in 2012.Fairfax, VA  – 2011 Masters Class Champion Tim Minor will be back for a full-scale assault on the 2012 F2000 Championship Series with a Citation chassis. Minor won outright at Summit Point in 2009, has numerous Masters Class victories, finished on the podium consistently in 2011, and led laps at a number of events on his way to a fourth place Championship finish for his Ski Motorsports team.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL – HP Tech Motorsport will add to its F2000 Championship Series program for 2012, expanding to three RFR chassis in an all-Venezuelan driver lineup. 2011 rookie contender Robert La Rocca will be back in the No. 10, and is set to be joined by Francisco Cerullo and Jose Montiel.

La RoccaAfter a successful 2011 racing season, Venezuelan pilot Robert La Rocca will head to Brazil to compete in the F3 Brazilan Open event at the famed Interlagos Circuit. Competing at the same facility as the final round in the Formula One World Championship, La Rocca will do battle with drivers and teams from around the world in the hopes to stand atop the podium.

Carbone, the 2010 F2000 ChampionOne of the key ingredients to winning a motorsports championship is team continuity, and Sam Schmidt Motorsports (SSM) will have that in 2012 when Victor Carbone returns as the driver of the No. 3 Nevoni/SSM Dallara in Firestone Indy Lights, which begins March 25 with the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg (Fla.).

Action at Mosport

(This piece appeared originally in the January 2012 issue of SportsCar in a slightly shorter form due to space limitation in the magazine.)

 When Mike Rand, Bob Wright and Al Guibord Jr. started in 2006 they wanted an affordable F2000 series. This year five of the seven race weekends had races for F1600 as well. In October at Watkins Glen, in the face of a brutal economic climate,the series attracted 38 F2000 cars and 25 F1600 cars.
