February 24, 2020

Ransomville, NY –  Jackson Lee, 17, from Avon, IN, will return to RiceRace for the full FRP F1600 Championship Series in 2020.  Lee will drive the #52 Mygale with a major associate partnership with Indiana Coating Specialists, representing Tnemec Company, Inc. Other associate partners include Subway of Hobart/Valparaiso, IN, Caldwell Realty, Jackson Hewitt of Hobart, IN, Bell Racing Helmets, Hinchman Racewear, Lake Cable Consulting of Canton, OH, BSA Life Structures, Performance Tire Service Company, Cabin Coffee Company of Avon, IN and Quack Daddy Donuts of Pendelton, IN.  Lee’s partners join RiceRace sponsors Susi Uhl Art, Fox40, and Ruthie’s Rental Cottage.

Lee will be entering his second season of formula car racing in 2020. After racing for 8 years in .25 midgets and go karts, he won a scholarship in the 2018 Cooper Tires Karting Shootout. Lee competed in the 2019 Lucas Oil Formula Car Series, leading the championship multiple times and ultimately finishing 4th with 2 wins, 6 podiums and 6 races led. Lee also entered a weekend in the FRP F1600 Championship for RiceRace, which included a pole and 2nd and 4th place results at Summit Point Raceway. Lee was also a 2019 Team USA Scholarship nominee and joined Rising Star Racing as part of their First Gear Program.

“I can’t thank RiceRace and my partners enough for this opportunity,” says Lee. “My goal for this season was to join a strong team that could help me grow as a driver and put me in position to compete for a championship. Greg Rice and RiceRace have proven that they are a team that can run up front and win. I am really looking forward to showing what I can do for them on track all season.”

Jackson Lee will team with Simon Sikes, also a previous Team USA Scholarship nominee as well as race winner in FRP F1600 and F2000, in full season campaigns for RiceRace.  The team has the ability to add a 3rd car for the season or select races.

Team owner Greg Rice says “We enjoyed having Jackson and his family race with us at Summit Point. He showed similar speed and skills as the other Team USA nominees that have driven our cars, and we are delighted that we can run him for the full 2020 season.“

The team will prepare for the season by attending the Hoosier Super Tour event at Road Atlanta in March. The 7-event, 21-race FRP F1600 Series begins in April and consists of events at Road Atlanta, Barber Motorsports Park, Pittsburgh International Raceway, Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, VIRginia International Raceway and Summit Point Motorsports Park.

RiceRace has been a constant in FRP F1600 since the very first event almost a decade ago. The team has won many F1600 and F2000 races during this time, highlighted by the 2016 F2000 Championship with Steve Bamford. Greg Rice has been involved in the sport for 4 decades as a driver, mechanic, coach, and consultant. Greg manages the effort, and engineers the cars. Andrew Spencer and Alan Oppal bring their years of experience with junior formula cars, as the lead crew personnel.
