Formula Race Promotions is Back on Track This Weekend

June 17, 2020

“First green flag of 2020 is just around the corner”

In what could be classified as the longest offseason in history, the Formula Race Promotions program is back on track this coming weekend at the ultra-fast Pittsburgh International Race Complex(PittRace) in Wampum, Pennsylvania. With the start of the season on hold due to the global wide COVID-19 pandemic, series officials, teams and competitors are all anxious and excited to see the first green flag of 2020.

“It is still a trying time all across our country as the unemployment rate has hit record numbers and a lot of businesses are still not open,” explained FRP Co-Owner Bob Wright. “Fortunately, we have been able to alter our schedule by changing dates and locations to try and run a complete season. Entries have continued to trickle in since registration opened, and we are excited to see our extended motorsports family this weekend. 2020 has been a weird year, but we look to return to some normalcy this weekend at the racetrack.”

Taking on the 2.78-mile, 19-turn, natural terrain road course, Formula Race Promotions competitors in F2000, F1600, F1000, Atlantic,RCFFS and Challenge Cup will hit the track on Friday for multiple test sessions before two separate race days commence Saturday and Sunday.

Wright added, “We had two great series online for our FRPiRacing Challenge, but nothing beats real life, wheel-to-wheel racing. We thank all of our customers, both the teams and the drivers as well as our sponsors, partners and vendors for the support over the past few months, and we will look to repay you with one of the best programs we have ever put together.”

Currently entry numbers are rising as Formula RacePromotions continues to offer online registration for the first event of 2020. TheAtlantic Championship will see the likes of FR Americas Championship Powered byHonda competitor Kent Vaccaro challenge Keith Grant, Larry Howard and Richard Zober while the F1000 class will see the likes of Reilly Harris, Doug Hertz,Tim Pierce and Stephen Hamilton. The F1600 division boasts an entry list of more than twenty competitors as Simon Sikes, Scott Rubenzer, Jonathan Kotyk, Max Esterson and more will look to kick off their season with a win inPittsburgh.

Brandon Dixon will lead the way into Pitt Race for the F2000 drivers as he aims for another series title. Looking to challenge him from the drop of the first green flag, Peter Gonzalez, Nick Palacio, Andrew Gamble,Reece Everard and others aim to the pointy end of the field and leave the first event weekend with the championship points lead. The RCFFS program will also join FRP in Pittsburgh as entries crest the double-digit mark for the first event of 2020 as well as the FRP Prototype Championship Series competitors will make their series debut in the first of three events in 2020.

“A huge welcome back to all of the new and existing race teams entering the 2020 Formula Race Promotions series,” added Clay Hutchison. “As always, customer service is something that FRP prides themselves on, and we encourage teams and competitors to share any insights, positive and/or negative, with us following event weekends. Our goal is to make FRP a fun, yet competitive race series that prepares young drivers for the future, but is the home for gentleman drivers who want to compete and have a good time doing so.Let’s go racing!”
