Lexington, OH – The F2000 Championship Series field enjoyed three and a half hours of twilight testing on Thursday evening at Mid-Ohio, ahead of this weekend’s finale to the national championship. Many teams spent the session on old tires, just familiarizing themselves with the track before official practice begins tomorrow, Friday September 3. Masters Class veteran Rob Nicholas set the fastest time at 1:24.07, under the existing track record, in his first F2000 race since Watkins Glen in July.

Carbone has been at the front of the title fight all year.New York, NY – One double-header event remains as the F2000 Championship Series heads to Mid-Ohio this weekend to decide the 2010 championship as the summer swing draws to a close. Thirty cars are entered and 17-year old sophomore driver Victor Carbone has been in control of the standings the entire way.

Best Race Ever?

The number of lead changes was hard to keep track of on Sunday as F2000 set a high point for itself. Many claimed it to be the best race of the five-year history of the Series. A four-way drafting battle for the lead eventually emerged (starting as a three-car battle) between four aspiring drivers. What could be better?

"JS" took an epic victory at Road AmericaElkhart Lake, WI – Jonathan Scarallo survived an epic drafting battle between four cars and then took the lead with two laps to go and gapped Daniel Erickson to take his first career F2000 victory in style for R-Sport at Road America. Erickson came home second for Primus Racing/Quantum Mechanics with Keith McCrone, Scarallo’s R-Sport teammate, finishing third and taking the Masters Class win.

Scarallo took a dominant pole.Elkhart Lake, WI – Jonathan Scarallo laid down a lap more than four-tenths clear of anyone else to take pole for the second F2000 race of the weekend at Road America, round 12 of the 2010 season. Scarallo appeared to be sending a message to the rest of the paddock in the #22 Van Diemen. After starting on the outside of the front row yesterday, the R-Sport driver had his sights set on taking the lead away from championship leader Victor Carbone before a broken fourth gear ended his day. A reverse front row from yesterday will see Daniel Erickson line up alongside Scarallo.

Carbone took his sixth win in 11 races.Elkhart Lake, WI – Championship points leader Victor Carbone snuck around Jonathan Scarallo on the start and then passed Daniel Erickson for the lead to go onto victory in the first F2000 race of the weekend at Road America. The Brazilian wasted no time in taking the top spot early in the race and then breaking the draft to take his sixth win of the season in round 11 at Road America over Daniel Erickson and Stevan McAleer.

A new lap record and pole for Daniel Erickson.Elkhart Lake, WI – Daniel Erickson annihilated the F2000 track record at Road America en route to pole position for race one of the weekend with a flying lap of 2:15.271, nearly three tenths up on the record. Jonathan Scarallo was just a tenth off the Australian rookie and will line up second as the young American was the fastest driver during Friday practice in his R-Sport Van Diemen. Championship points leader Victor Carbone was a solid third ahead of Chris Livengood and Scarallo’s R-Sport teammate, Keith McCrone.
